Do you know who your target market is?
What is your main goal for your web site visitors? As an online business owner, your main goal should be to get as many of your web site visitors as possible to buy from you. You want them to buy your e-books, special reports and audio recordings. You want them to register for your teleseminars and inquire about your services.
My web site is my source of sales. Even though I market my business and have my writings, articles and products listed on thousands of web sites, my web site is the only place that actually sells my products and services. And, since over 98% of my customers are online customers, this means that my web site has to do a very good job at selling my products and services.
When I designed my web site, I spent some time on its design and logo. But what I have spent countless hours on is making my web site into a selling machine. I still constantly test different approaches to selling products and services on my web site, to see which approach can help me sell more products.
What does this mean for your web site and using it to sell your products and services? While your web site should look nice, what is much more important is for your web site to be effective in terms of selling to your web site visitors. Unfortunately, many coaches, consultants and solopreneurs don't spend enough time on creating a web site that sells their products and services. Instead, they concentrate on finding nice colors and graphics for their web sites.
Many elements go into creating an effective web site. Here are three things you can do today to increase your web site sales:
Your web copy is the most important element of your web site to concentrate on if you want to sell more of your products and services. Since you are not there to speak with every web site visitor, your copy speaks for you.
Your web site copy is the only thing your visitors have to make a decision about you, as a professional, and your products and services. Make sure that your web copy sells your products and services well.
Many solopreneurs put too much information on each page of their web site. As a result, the main message gets lost. To get the most sales, make sure that each web page has one, and only one message.
For example, if a web page is selling an e-book, make sure that that is all it does. Don't use that page to try to sell three other products.
And Then Ask Again. Are you beating around the bush, hoping that your web site visitors will find out themselves how to buy your products or subscribe to your newsletter? They won't. Make it very clear how to take action. And then ask your visitors to take action.
