Use Misspellings for Search Engine Optimization

Let’s say someone is looking for a Marketing E-book, using search engines. What will this person type in? Sometines e-book, sometimes ebook, sometimes e book. Sometimes a plural form of one of those three.

Which spelling should YOU use on your web page? Which one(s) will bring you the most traffic?

There is a lot of discussion around using correct spelling versus alternative spelling, especially when the alternative spelling brings in traffic. My suggestion would be to first research these alternative spellings with a keyword tool, such as WordTracker, to see how much traffic you can get on those different spellings.
If there are indeed many people searching for misspellings, and you want to capture them, you have a few alternative ways to do that:

– Use them right there in your web site copy. Many people don’t like it, as this makes their web copy unprofessional.

– Create another section on your web site (or a whole new web site), that will have the misspellings, and than funnel the traffic to your clip art. This may be a good alternative if you don’t want to change the copy on your main web site.

Amazon Now Sells Groceries

Amazon is still expending its product line. The latest is the Amazone Groceries, where you can buy many different non-pershable grocery items, such as cereals, pet supplies, health and beauty items and much more. New items means more people would be shopping at Amazon, and people who are already buying at Amazon can add groceries to their shopping cart, while buying other things, such as books.

Of course a solopreneur who creates her own products will never have as many products as Amazon. But, by adding different products to the line up, a business owner can tap into a different group of customers, and increase an average ticket with their clients.

For example, when a business owner who sells e-books adds teleseminars to the products she offers, she taps into a whole new group of clients, people who like learning through teleseminars. She could not reach them when she just sold e-books, but now she expanded her product offerings and is able to cater to this group as well.

One Thing That You Need to Operate Your Online Business

One thing that you cannot operate your online business without is web site traffic. Without traffic nothing is happening on your web site – no one is order your products, no one is asking about your services. Your business cannot survive without web site traffic.

Having web site traffic for an online business is the same as having foot traffic for a brick and mortar business. This traffic is the most important thing that your business needs to survive.

However, not all web site traffic is the same. The best traffic is targeted web site traffic, traffic that is searching for the products and services that you are offering.

For example, the best kind of traffic for a web site owned by a Virtual Assistant are people interested in hiring a virtual assistant. The best traffic for someone looking for business coaching clients are business owners, looking to improve their business ROI.

However, if you flip the traffic, and send the traffic of people interested in hiring a Virtual Assistant to the coach’s web site, and the traffic of people needing a coach to the Virtual Assistant’s web site, nothing will happen. People will not find what they need on the web sites they visited, and they will leave without doing business with the web site owner.

So how can YOU get targeted web site traffic of people who want to buy your products and services to your web site? Here are three steps to help you do that:

1. Define your target market. Make sure you know exactly who you want to come to your web site. If you don’t know who you want to attract to your web site, you can’t attract them.

2. Create a plan – put together an online marketing plan for your business. Put in the marketing techniques you will need to use to attract web site traffic – search engine optimization, newsletter publishing, business blogging, etc.
