How To Create A Web Site That Gets You Clients

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Many of my clients have asked me how to get started on having a web site. Should they create a web site themselves? How should they do it? Should they hire someone else to create a web site for them? What makes a good web site?

I usually recommend stepping back from an idea of a web site, and creating a list of what you actually need. You do not need a web site per se; what you really need is a process for getting clients online. Your web site is one of the main pieces in this process.

So, what do you need your web site for? Ask yourself these questions about your future web site:

– Do you need a place to promote your services?

– Do you want to create a hands-off system for getting clients online? Do you want to be able to build your list and use online marketing techniques to do that?

– Do you want to sell products such as ebooks, teleseminars and others?

– Do you need a membership web site?

– Do you need an automated system to get people to your web site and promote your services to them?

What to include on your web site and how to design it will depend on the purpose your web site will serve. If you don’t know what you need your web site to do, don’t hire a designer, as you will waste your money.

Only when you know what the web site needs to do, hire someone to create it for you.
Also, there is no reason to have a web site, unless you are going to use it and other online marketing techniques to attract more clients. If you will not use it for marketing, it will just be another business expense that will not pay for itself.

If you do want to use your web site to market your business, decide what you need your web site to do, before doing anything else. Doing this now will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

I have helped many clients to save thousands of dollars on their web sites – by helping them create a web site plan to get their web site right the very first time they design it or outsource to have it designed for them. You may want to join my mentoring program at https://www.MarketingSalad.com to learn how to create a plan for your web site.

How To Get More Newsletter Subscribers

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

How Can I Get MORE Newsletter Subscribers? This is one of the most popular questions I receive from coaches, consultants and other service business owners.

The best way to get more people to subscribe to your newsletter is by offering a free gift that they can receive when they subscribe.

Everyone likes free gifts, so when you offer a free gift to your subscribers you are immediately going to get more people to subscribe.

When people first learn about your newsletter, they are not sure if they want to subscribe or not. But they will definitely subscribe if they really want to receive the gift you are offering.

You want the people who learn about the gift to immediately say: “I want this!” and subscribe to your newsletter, so that they can get the gift. Therefore, the gift should be on a topic that is of great interest to your target market.

A few months ago I taught members of my mentoring program how to create a newsletter gift that will get you many newsletter subscribers. You can get the recording of that call at https://www.marketingsalad.com/triple-newsletter.html

How To Market Your Book Online

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

So you wrote a book, now what? How can you find people who want to buy your book online? Here is how:

Define the target audience for your book – who are the people who want to buy your book? Who is the target market for your book? Your book is very targeted, so you should be able to pinpoint a very specific group of people who wants the information you are sharing in the book.

Start a newsletter to collect the email addresses of people who visit your web site. Not everyone is going to buy your book the first time they visit your web site. If you can’t keep in touch with them AFTER they have visited your web site, you have lost them forever.

If you are able to get their email address you will be able to market your book to them for a long time. Plus, if you decide to offer other products based on your book (teleseminars, ebooks, etc) you will be able to use your e-mail list to promote them as well.

Create a marketing plan for your book. There are lots of things you can do to market your book – article marketing, blogging, search engine optimization, public speaking, etc.

Make sure your plan addresses how to get traffic to your web site, how to turn your traffic into leads and how to turn your leads into buyers.

The Best Technique To Sell More Books And Ebooks

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Many people have asked me – what is the best marketing technique to use to sell more books? If I start blogging, will I sell more books next week? Will article marketing sell 100 more copies of my ebooks?

Truth is, no marketing technique – blogging, search engine optimization, article marketing or any other one – will increase your sales immediately.

What you need to find out is how a particular marketing technique will fit into your overall marketing plan.

Many marketing techniques are designed to bring people interested in what you do to your web site. However, those techniques don’t account for what happens AFTER you bring them to your web site.

If you do absolutely nothing in addition to blogging, people will come to your blog, read it, linger for a bit and leave. This is because there will not be any incentive for them to stick around.

People are bombarded with tons of marketing messages every day. Many of your blog visitors will forget about your blog and its address two minutes after they leave it.

Therefore, it is imperative to make sure that you can collect the e-mail addresses of people who visit your blog. If you can get their e-mail address, you will be able to e-mail them, market to them, and sell your books to them long after they have visited your blog.

You should do this with every marketing technique you use – figure out how to use it to add people to your list, so that you can continue to market to them long after they have visited your web site.

Next week I am teaching a free teleseminar, 5 Steps To Selling More Copies Of Your Book Or Ebook.
I will be talking about creating a marketing plan to promote your book online and get more sales. You can register for the teleseminar FREE at https://www.avocadoconsulting.com/books.html

What If Services Clients Can’t Afford Your Rates?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

This is a question that comes up often with my clients.

Many coaches I know want to help many people that need their help, but can’t afford their one-on-one coaching rates. At the same time, coaches still need to make enough money to pay their mortgage and afford other things that their families need.

So how can you marry the two and come up with a win-win solution for everyone? You should do that by offering products and programs in different price ranges.

There are many people who need help, but can’t afford your services. There are thousands of them out there. If you only work with them one-on-one, you can’t help too many of them and you will not have as much time to work with your regular rate clients, the clients whose fees are helping you pay your mortgage.

Instead of doing that, create programs and products in different price ranges. Here is how:

Create group coaching calls for people who can’t afford your one-on-one services. More people will be able to afford these and they will still get the benefit of being coached by you.

Create a membership web site for your customers. I love this, and this is how many of my clients have chosen to work with me. They are members of my members-only web site, https://www.MarketingSalad.com where they have access to my coaching, teleseminars and expertise at a price much lower than my one-on-one coaching.

Create and teach teleseminars. This is another great way to help more people in a shorter amount of time.

Write an ebook or create other products, again more lower priced products to help more people.

Your products and teleseminars will enable you to help thousands of people, while still being able to generate revenue.

Use FREE Gift To Get Service Clients

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Q: How can you convince your potential clients to hire you?

A: By offering a taste of your expertise for free.

Giving away a small taste of your expertise for free is a very effective way to gain service clients. Since a service is a high ticket item, many of your potential clients spend time on shopping around, looking at different people who have the expertise that they need. However, if they already know you as an expert because they have sampled your expertise in the past, then hiring you as a service provider will be a much easier decision for them. They will not shop around looking at other experts – they will come directly to you.

This method of getting clients is easy and it works. The majority of my clients and buyers of my products have to come to me after they have sampled my free report, “Top Strategies To Get Clients Online and subscribed to my newsletter.

It is easy to create such sampling for your potential clients. Here is how:

Start A Newsletter to keep in touch with your potential customers. Make a subscription to the newsletter more attractive by offering a gift with subscription – a free product.

Find A Topic For Your Free Product. A good topic for such a product is a solution to a common problem that your target market has.

Decide On The Type Of A Free Product You Will Offer. There are many different types you can offer – e-course, e-book, special report, audio recording, etc. Make sure that whatever you offer you can create once and people can download it from your web site. This way you will be able to automate the whole process and it will be easy for you to reach many more prospects with this product.

Keep In Touch. Use the newsletter to share your expertise and keep in touch with people who request your free gift. These people will not become your clients immediately, but if you use your newsletter to continue sharing your advice and expertise, some of them will become your clients later on.

Decide how to market your e-book. If you want people to buy your e-book, you will need to market it.

There are many marketing methods to market your e-book. They include creating a blog around your e-book, article marketing, search engine optimization and many more.

What Is The Best Time To Launch Your Ebook?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

If you are about to launch an ebook, you should know that you can make lots of extra money by launching your ebook at the right time.

I have coached many business owners on writing, putting together and launching e-books. My clients ask many great questions when I work together with them on their e-books. They want to know how to write an e-book, how to format it, how to brand it and how to market it. But they usually do not ask an extremely important question. This question is about when to launch their ebook.

Need More Coaching Clients?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Do you want to get MORE coaching clients using the Internet?

Here is the problem: Very few people will contact you about buying your coaching services as soon as they visit your web site. Coaching service is a high ticket item, so your potential customers need some time to think about hiring you and get to know you before buying your services.

How do you get people to buy your services? Here are some tips to help you:

Draw your potential coaching customers into your circle of influence by offering them something of value for free to get them to register for your e-mail list. The freebie can be a report, an audio recording, or anything else that will take you one time to produce and then people can download without your direct involvement.

Send out your newsletter on a regular basis. According to some research I have seen, people need to hear about you 7 times(!!) on average, before buying. Keep in touch with your subscribers, share useful information and remind them about your services. This will help you turn some of them into buyers.

Create other products. Many of your subscribers will never buy your coaching services, but they may buy cheaper products, such as special reports, ebooks, teleseminars, etc. Create other products based on your expertise to create multiple streams of income and get more buyers.

Get more traffic. You need a lot of web site traffic in order to get more newsletter subscribers and coaching clients.

Use online marketing techniques such as search engine optimization, ezine publishing, blogging and other to get more web site traffic and clients.

My free report, Top Strategies To Get Service Clients Online shows you the step-by-step approach for getting clients online. You can get the report at https://www.avocadoconsulting.com/free_report.html.

Are You Providing Value?

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Do you show value of your products and services when you are selling them online?

You need to ALWAYS show value of what you are selling – whether it is a $7 report or a $5,000 one-on-one coaching package. Whether you only sell products, or you charge per hour, per minute, per project, per pound lost, etc, you need to show the VALUE of what you are offering. No one is going to give you even a dollar if they don’t think that what you offer has value for them.

And this is very true when you are doing business online. You are not “there” when your potential customers are visiting your web site, so the only way they can find out about the value that you offer them is by reading your web copy. If you web copy is not communicating the value that you offer, your potential customers will go elsewhere.

I did an experiment a while ago, where I had a low cost product (under $10) for which I created very short copy. The copy described the product, but not the product’s benefits. The product sold just a few copies.

Another product on the same topic was more expensive, but it had more web copy written for it, discussing the value and benefits in addition to describing the product.

I sent a lot of traffic to both products. The second product sold many more copies.

Consumers need to know what value they are going to receive when they buy your products or services. It is not the price alone that the consumers are after. You have to explain the value of the product well enough, so that your consumers understand the value of what you are getting, no matter how you are charging.

Learn how to show the value that you provide to your clients during the Make Thousands Of Dollars With Online Copywriting Teleseminar Series. You can register for it at https://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zcopy
