Top 3 Ways To Get Web Site Traffic

Monday, August 21st, 2006

Here is a question I was asked a few weeks ago:

Biana, if you could only use three techniques to generate web site traffic, what would they be?

Well, I hope I can use more then just three techniques (because I already use many more), but here are 3 of my favorite ways to generate traffic:

Business Blogging. Start a blog for your business and update it on a regular basis. A business blog is an excellent tool to toot your own horn, let the world know about your new products, and tell your target customers why they should do business with you, rather than your competitor. A business blog is also a great tool for attracting potential customers to your blog and your web site.
Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). SEO is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site since over 70% of people who are looking for products and services use search engines to locate them.

Article Writing and Publishing. This is another great way to drive traffic to your web site. When you write and publish your articles, other web site owners pick them up and publish them on their web sites, while giving you a link back to your web site.

Need more clients? You can learn how to use business blogging, search engine optimization, article writing and publishing to get more clients at MarketingSalad.com, the online business coaching community for solopreneurs. Here is what one of MarketingSalad.com members says about her membership:

“I came to Marketing Salad with many, many things on my “to-do” list. Most had been there for at least a couple of years. They were things like writing and submitting articles on the internet, starting a blog, increasing my newsletter list, and on and on. I read articles and listened to classes trying to learn how to accomplish these tasks, but I never took action, it was too overwhelming.

After joining Marketing Salad just a couple of months ago, I have been on a roll! Biana’s how-to guides have given me simple, step-by-step procedures that are easy to implement. The classes have been amazing. I believe she gives more in a one-hour teleclass than I ever got in other classes on the same subject, combined! I now have several things crossed off of my to-do list. I have a system for writing and distributing articles and have submitted eight so far. I am currently having two blogs set up for me and I am ready to start blogging thanks to Biana’s class. I have implemented many ideas for growing my newsletter list. And, my favorite part is if I have a question, I can just ask on the forum. I can always get my questioned answered and talk with other business owners who are willing to share information and experience with me.

Thanks, Biana for Marketing Salad! I can now spend more of my time with clients instead of marketing! I am so glad I found you!

Another Way To Get More Newsletter Subscribers

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Publishing a newsletter on a regular basis is a great way to build relationships with your potential clients. The more targeted newsletter subscribers you have, the more people are exposed to your expertise and are able to become your clients.

Therefore, as a business owner, you must use different online marketing techniques to continuously grow your newsletter list.

One way to grow your list that many business owners overlook is by using pay-per-click search engines. With pay per click search engines you don’t have to do search engine optimization; rather, you pay for every click that is sent to your web site.

Last week in the forum at MarketingSalad.com I discussed how I use pay-per-click to get newsletter subscribers. Get access to that discussion, and much, much more at MarketingSalad.com

Here is what one of the members said about MarketingSalad.com:

“The forum is packed full of advice, tips and a wealth of information. Anything I want to know about online marketing I can either find the answers there or ask the question myself.

As a result of your advice on Search Engine Optimization I updated my web site and ever since I have been getting a lot of enquiries and even better, taken on several new clients!”

How To Get Coaching Clients Online

Monday, August 14th, 2006

I have taught quite a few coaches how to get more clients online. The first step for getting more coaching clients is defining your niche, or your target market.

Once you know who your target market is, you have three goals:

Driving your target market to your web site

Getting your target market to subscribe to your newsletter

Keeping in touch and building relationships with your target market using your newsletter. This step will help you turn your newsletter subscribers into clients.

#2 is straightforward – you need to have a prominent newsletter subscribe box on your web site, and encourage your web site visitors to subscribe to your newsletter. The best way to do that is by offering something at no charge (a report, e-book or e-course) as a bonus to subscribers.

#3 can be accomplished by publishing useful, interesting newsletters on a regular basis.

This leaves us with #1, driving your target market to your web site. How can you accomplish that?

Here are a few different ways to do that:

– Online Networking. Network in groups that your target market participates in and mention your newsletter web address in your signature.

Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). SEO is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site since over 70% of people who are looking for products and services use search engines to locate them. Make sure that your web site is optimized for
search engines, so that your target market can find it.

– Business Blogging. Start a blog for your business and update it on a regular basis. A business blog is an excellent tool to toot your own horn, and let your target market know about your business. My business blog drives
newsletter subscribers and clients to my web site every single day.

What Is Easier To Promote New Product or Old Product?

Friday, August 4th, 2006

While it might seem that it is easier to promote a new product (all the cool, new product buzz), there lots of different ways to promote an older product, as long as it is relevant to your target market.

When you have just created a page about the new product online, the page is brand new. This means that search engines don’t know about it, there are no incoming links to it, etc. As the web page matures, while you are (hopefully) marketing the product online, search engines index it, there are more and more incoming links to it, more people are recommending it, after buying it themselves, etc. The buzz is building on top of buzz, and more and more people are learning about your product.

But how do you start creating buzz? Which techniques should you use? Here is an article I wrote on Online Marketing Techniques To Drive Traffic You Your Web Site.

How To Increase Search Engine Traffic

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Over 70% of the Internet users use search engines to locate products and services they are interested in. This means that over 70% of your customers use search engines to locate YOUR products and services. Many of my newsletter subscribers and clients have found me using search engines. So if your business web site does not show up on search engines, you are missing out on a lot of valuable exposure.

So how do you get your web site to show up in search engines? This is a two-step process:

Step 1. Optimize your web site for search engines.
Step 2. Get links to your web site from other web sites. Many search engines put emphasis on links to your web site. Search engines assume that your web site has useful information if many other web sites link to yours. This results in better search engine rankings for your site.

Why do search engines place an emphasis on links to your web site when determining your search engine rankings? Since other web site owners are responsible for linking to your web site, it is more difficult for you to manipulate these links. Unless you provide other incentives to do so, no one will link to your web site if they don’t think that your web site provides useful information. Even if you contact people and request to exchange links, many people would ignore your request. Getting links to your web site from quality web sites takes a lot of time, effort and hard work.

But there is a much easier way of getting links to your web site. It is called article marketing. In fact, people will ask whether they can link to you. I get article re-printing requests almost every day. Every time someone re-prints my article, they also include a link back to my web site. You can learn all about using articles to improve your search engine rankings during tomorrow’s Article Marketing for Profits Teleseminar.

Writing articles is a viral way to generate links to your web site. To take full advantage of the viral nature of article marketing, submit your articles to many article directories. Once your articles are listed in the directories, web site and blog publishers will pick them up from the directories and publish them. There is no additional effort required on your part No more begging others to exchange links with you and no more waiting for web sites
to link to you. Once you start writing articles on a regular basis, you will get hundreds of people linking to you. If you search for my name, “Biana Babinsky” in Google, you will see thousands of results. Many of these results come from people reprinting my articles and linking back to my web site.

Tomorrow, during the Article Marketing for Profits Teleseminar I will teach you how to use article marketing to get more clients and sell more products. Here is what you will learn:

– Why article marketing is one of my favorite online marketing techniques, and how I use it to gain clients

– How to leverage your articles to get more search engine traffic

– How to leverage your articles and use them over and over again to create teleseminars, e-books and special reports

Use Misspellings for Search Engine Optimization

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Let’s say someone is looking for a Marketing E-book, using search engines. What will this person type in? Sometines e-book, sometimes ebook, sometimes e book. Sometimes a plural form of one of those three.

Which spelling should YOU use on your web page? Which one(s) will bring you the most traffic?

There is a lot of discussion around using correct spelling versus alternative spelling, especially when the alternative spelling brings in traffic. My suggestion would be to first research these alternative spellings with a keyword tool, such as WordTracker, to see how much traffic you can get on those different spellings.
If there are indeed many people searching for misspellings, and you want to capture them, you have a few alternative ways to do that:

– Use them right there in your web site copy. Many people don’t like it, as this makes their web copy unprofessional.

– Create another section on your web site (or a whole new web site), that will have the misspellings, and than funnel the traffic to your clip art. This may be a good alternative if you don’t want to change the copy on your main web site.

Search Engine Optimization is More Important Then Ever

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Did you know that over 70% of your target customers start looking for your products and services by searching for them using a search engine?

This means that if your web site is not optimized for search engines, you are missing out on all these potential customers.

Search engine optimization is really a two-part process. Part one is the optimization, on your web site, which amounts to making changes to your web site content and tags, as well as your web site structure. The second part of the process, which is just as important, is making changes off your web site. This involves creating and executing linking strategies with other web sites.

My Step by Step Search Engine Optimization special report describes in detail how to do both on-site optimization, as well as create your linking strategies. The report is available
at a tiny fraction of the cost you would pay to someone to actually optimize your web site for you. Click Here To Learn More About Biana Babinsky’s Step by Step Search Engine Optimization Special Report
