Facebook Fan Pages: Are You Forgetting To Build Your List?

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Are you not getting results from your Facebook Fan Page? Are you spending a lot of time on your Facebook Fan Page, only to have nothing to show for it?

If you are not seeing any results from your Facebook Fan Page, then ask yourself this: “Do your fans know how to subscribe to your newsletter? Do you invite them to subscribe to your newsletter on a regular basis?”

If the answer to these questions is No, then you are not building your list and not getting result with your Facebook Fan Page. Here are three tips to help you build your list with your Facebook Fan Page:

1. Create a FREE gift to give away. Create a free gift that people in your target market want. This can be a special report, an ebook, an audio recording, etc. The key is to create something that your fans will want to get, so that they can get your gift and subscribe to your newsletter.

2. Create an Effective Squeeze Page to give away your free gift. In order to offer your free gift to people on your Facebook Fan Page, you need to have a page on your web site to invite them to, so that they go to that page and get your free gift and subscribe to your newsletter.

The page that you need to create is called a squeeze page. A squeeze page is extremely effective page for getting more newsletter subscribers, because it has just one purpose, to convert more of your web site visitors into newsletter subscribers.

3. Invite your fans to get the free gift and subscribe to your newsletter No one will get your free gift, unless they actually know about it. Make sure to share information about your free gift on your Fan Page and invite your fans to get it.

Facebook Fan Pages: New Question Option

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Have you see a new question option on Facebook Fan Pages?

You can now ask your fans a question on your Fan Page. To do that, you will need to create a question and create at least two possible answers to the questions. Then, your fans will be able to vote on which answer they like. There is also the option to let your fans create answer options on their own, or you can not offer this option.

Your fans can also share the question with their friends.

Facebook Fan Pages: About Box Is Back!

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

One of the recent Facebook Fan Page changes was that the About Box in the left hand side menu was gone. This box was very useful, because it explained to your Facebook Fan Page visitors what the Fan Page was about.

The About Box is back, and you can see it in the left hand side menu. The box is smaller now, and the link in it is not clickable, but this is still great news. Now when someone comes to your Fan Page for the first time, they will be able to find out what the page is about!

What do you think? Do you like that the About Box is back?

Changes For How Facebook Like Button Works On Your Blog And Web Site

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

If you have installed a “Like” or “Recommend” button on your blog and web site (you can see the “Like” button on top of this blog post), there is a big change to the way the story looks in the feed of people who click on the button.

In the past, when people clicked on “Like” or “Recommend” button, a simple, one line story appeared in their Feed. For example, if you clicked “Like” on this blog post, Cucumber Recipes: Radish and Cucumber Salad, a story would appear in your Feed that will say:

You like Cucumber Recipes: Radish and Cucumber Salad at tastygalaxy.com

Now if you click “Like” on that story, here is what you will see in your Feed:

This story is much more visible in the feed now, which means two things:

– When people do click on “Like” button on your web site or on your blog post, this information will be much more visible in their Feed, and you will get more traffic as a result.

– At the same time, though, since the story IS much more visible in the Feed, people might start being much choosier about where the click “Like”, so they will be clicking “Like” less often.

What do you think? Do you like this change? What do you think the implications will be – does this mean more traffic for people who have “Like” buttons on their blogs and web sites?

To see how the story now appears in your Feed, click on the “Like” button on top of the post, and check your Facebook Profile.

How To Get More Fans For Facebook Fan Pages

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

A lot of people have been asking me how to get more fans for their Facebook Fan Pages. If you run a Facebook Fan Page and are looking to invite more people to join it, here are ten strategies to help you do that:

1. Invite your Facebook friends to join your Fan Page Use your status update from time to time to let your friends on Facebook know about your Fan Page and invite them to join.

2. Invite your Twitter followers to join your Facebook Fan Page Let your Twitter followers know what is going on at your Fan Page, and invite them to join it.

3. Invite your newsletter subscribers to join in Let your newsletter subscribers know about your Fan Page and invite them to join.

4. Add a link to your Fan Page on your web site Invite your web site visitors to join your fan page.

5. Add a “LIKE” Box to your blog, you can see what it looks like on this blog, just scroll down this blog to see the “LIKE” box on this blog post – and don’t forget to click the “LIKE” button for more Facebook Fan Pages tips :)

6. Invite your LinkedIn connections to join your Page Use your status updates on LinkedIn from time to time to invite your connections to join your Facebook Page

7. Add a link to your Fan Page on your teleseminar materials, when you are teaching free teleseminars, or when you are charging for them, add a link to your Fan Page to your teleseminar materials.

8. Add a link to your Fan Page to your speaking materials, if you are a speaker, add information about your Fan Page to the handouts that you give away when you speak.

9. Add a link to your Fan Page to your blog, you can add a Facebook button that links to your Fan Page to your blog’s menu.

10. Add a link to your Fan Page to your free report/e-book/e-course. Do you have a free giveaway to your new newsletter subscribers? Add a link to your Fan Page in the resources section of your giveaway!

Bonus #11: Be consistent! Invite people to join your Fan Page consistently and on a regular basis. Inviting people just one time is not going to do a lot, but when you let your connections and subscribers know about your Fan Page on a regular basis, you will get more fans.

Facebook Fan Page Changes – Chronological Order

Facebook Fan Pages Changes

Facebook Fan Pages Changes

Monday, February 14th, 2011

As you probably know, on Thursday Facebook Fan Pages started switching to anew design that looks similar to the design of profile pages. I have already switched my Fan Page to the new design. You can see it by clicking here

Some of the changes include moving the Page Tabs from the top to the left-side menu, being able to receive notifications when people post on your Fan Page, being able to post on other pages as a page, the ability to block posts on your Fan Page based on the keywords that you define and more.

There are lots of changes that are going into effect, but here are three new things to pay attention to:

You Can Now Change The Category Of Your Facebook Fan Page. A lot of people have been unhappy with the category they picked for their page when they first created the page, but they could not do anything about it.

Now you are able to change the category of your Fan Page if you need to.

You Can Now Post As A Page On Other Pages. Here is something else that you can do now – you can post on others’ Fan Pages as your Fan Page, and not as your profile.

There are huge implications for this ability. For example, you can increase the visibility of your Fan Page and gain more fans by commenting and providing value on pages other than your Fan Page. That way, people visiting that page will be able to check out your Fan Page and become fans.

The Tabs Have Moved From The Top To The Left-Hand Menu. The tabs are still all there, but it is going to take a bit of time to get used to them to being on the left hand side and not at the top of the page.

As you can see, there are lots of new things on Fan Pages. Respond in the comments and share whether you have already switched your page to the new design and what you like and dislike about it. I have already switched my Fan Page to the new design. And click here to join my Facebook Page

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Facebook Fan Page Traffic

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

So, you have a Facebook Fan Page for your business. You publish information and tips there, and sometimes invite your fans to visit your web site. Your fans click on your links, come to your web site, but that’s it. They leave without taking any action on your web site, so you are not getting any clients or customers from your Fan Page.

So, what should you do? How can you start getting clients from your Fan Page? Let’s look at what is happening when your fans come to visit your web site:

1. Your fans see something on your fan page that they are interested in.

2. They click on the link and visit your web site.

3. Because they are not ready to BUY yet, they leave the web site and don’t visit it again.

So what can you do to get clients and customers from your Facebook Fan Page traffic? You need people who come to your web site from your Facebook Fan Page to take action on your web site and subscribe to your newsletter! That way, you will be able to keep in touch with them, let them know about your products and services and convert them into clients and customers even if they don’t buy immediately!

You do that by creating squeeze pages and sharing links to your squeeze page on your Fan Pages.

Your squeeze pages will help you convert more people into newsletter subscribers. That way, even if your fans don’t buy from you immediately, you will be able to convert them into clients and customers in the future.

Here is how the diagram above will look once you use squeeze pages:

1. Your fans see something on your fan page that they are interested in.

2. They click on the link and visit your web site. Because they are now visiting a squeeze page, there is a much higher possibility that they will subscribe to your newsletter

3. They receive your newsletter on a regular basis and become a client or customer in the future.

Do you see how different the diagrams are? In the first one, the fan does not take action and just leaves the web site. With a squeeze page, you are going to convert your fans into newsletter subscribers and then clients!

Get Results With Your Facebook Fan Page In 2011

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Are you frustrated, because even though you have heard from many people that Facebook Fan Pages will help you attract more clients to your business, you are still not seeing any results from Facebook?

Here are three tips to help you get more results with your Facebook Fan Pages in 2011:

– Share Tips On Your Facebook Page. Your members want to learn from you, so make sure to share tips with them. Share your tips, your articles and your blog posts that share information and tips on the topics of interest to members of your Facebook Page.

– Invite People To Join Your Facebook Fan Page. Grow your Fan Page every day by inviting people to join it. When people join your Fan Page, this information appears in their feed, and it also appears i their friends’ feeds, thus giving your Fan Page more exposure.

– Create a Facebook Fan Page Welcome Tab. A special Welcome Tab helps you convert more of your Fan Page visitors into members. Use your Welcome Tab to invite people to click the “Like” button and become members of your Fan Page.

Do You Need A List If You Have A Facebook Fan Page?

Friday, December 17th, 2010

I have been hearing lately that a lot of small business owners are deciding to not have a web site or a list, and instead conduct all of their business, marketing and customer service activities through their Facebook Fan Pages. And I think they are making a huge mistake!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love having a Facebook Fan Page to share tips and information about my business. Having a Fan Page is great, and it can help your business to connect with your potential clients on Facebook. But you should never use your Facebook Fan Page instead of your list. You should use it in addition to your list.

The reason for having a Facebook Fan Page, but also your own list is pretty simple. You have control over your list, but you have absolutely no control over what happens to your Facebook Fan Page. Just yesterday, when when Facebook Fan Page prototypes were released for a few minutes lots of people were upset, because they didn’t like how the new Facebook Pages looked. Make sure that your Facebook Page is not the only place where you market your business and keep in touch with your potential clients. Make sure that you have a list to keep in touch with your potential clients. Make sure that you also have a web site and a blog, to help you attract even more clients to your business.

Don’t put all of the your eggs in one basket. While the Facebook Fan Pages did go back to the old design yesterday, I would not be surprised if the new design rolls out at some point in the future. Make sure to build your list, so that no matter what happens to your Facebook Page, you are still able to market your business and keep in touch with your potential clients.
