Timing Is Everything!

Have you heard the phrase, “Timing Is Everything”? I was reminded of it this weekend. We were about to leave the house to go run a few errands, but got delayed by 10 minutes. As we started putting on shoes to leave the house, we heard the rain starting outside. In a matter of two minutes the rain turned into a downpour and then 1/4 inch hail. It was hailing in June!

We ended up staying inside for the next 30 minutes, just watching the rain and hail through the windows. The rain just kept coming down, and it looked as if a wall of water was coming down from the sky. The hail was very loud; you could hear it hitting the trees and the roofs.

After 30 minutes it stopped almost at once, just as fast as it started. The sun came out and the hail melted almost immediately.

I was glad that we got delayed by 10 minutes and avoided being outside in that rain and hail. Timing, indeed, is everything.

What Works In Marketing?

Every once in a while someone asks me a HUGE marketing question. A HUGE question usually means that if I were to answer in detail, my answer could be made into a book. In fact, I have written a book on this exact subject.

The question this time is What Works In Marketing?

Here is my VERY short answer:

As I promote my business almost completely online, almost all of my clients come to me through my online marking efforts.

I have been marketing online for over 10 years, and the steps to creating a successful online business are:

Defining your target audience

Creating an effective message that resonates with your audience

Taking this message far and wide to your target audience online

The techniques that have been most successful for me are:

Newsletter publishing – keeping in touch with my current and potential customers is a big portion of my marketing plan.

Article marketing – my articles have been posted on hundreds of web sites, bringing me traffic and clients.

Search engine optimization has brought massive amounts of traffic to my web site.

Business blogging – helps with search engine optimization.

Free teleseminars have exposed my work to hundreds of people at a time, bringing me more exposure and clients.

What If No One Is Buying Your Ebooks?

Many coaches, consultants and authors want to write an ebook. They work hard on deciding on content, creating the content, getting the ebook edited and putting it all together. Once the ebook is ready, they spend more time deciding which shopping cart to use, and how to accept payment online.

After some time, they put together the ebook and the shopping cart together. Now everything is ready to accept payment and deliver the ebook to the buyers. There is just one problem – there are no buyers.

Having spent all the time and resources on writing the ebook and deciding how to sell it, many coaches, consultants and authors neglect to create a marketing plan for their e-book. As a result, they are not able to sell many ebooks. Don’t be like them, put together an online marketing plan to promote your ebook before you actually launch it.
In order to get the word out about your e-books, you need to drive qualified web traffic to your web site and to the e-books.

Here is how:

– Define your target market – who are the people you want to buy the e-books?

– Start building your newsletter list. Publish your newsletter on a regular basis to keep in touch with your subscribers and provide them with information about the e-books that you sell.

– Use online marketing techniques – search engine optimization, article marketing, your own blog, etc to drive traffic to your web site.

It will not happen overnight, but if you market effectively and consistently, you will get a lot of web site traffic and be able to sell your ebooks.

Are Sales Letters Effective?

Many coaches, consultants and other service business owners have asked me if sales letters and product sales letters are effective.
I am sure you have seen sales letters written to promote ebooks, teleseminars and other information products. Sales letters / sales pages are extremely effective. You can make your sales letter a part of your larget web site, or you can buy a whole new domain just to sell a new product. For example, your sales letter is for something not completely related to your main web site or a separate free offer, I would put it on a new web site.

If it is for a product, and you have similar products on your web site, I would just put them together on the same web site.

I always recommend to my clients to learn how to write their own sales letters. You know your products better then anyone else, so you will be able to write the best sales letter for them.

Also, once you know how to write one sales letter, you know how to write them all. This means that you will be able to write sales letters for all of your products and services.

Are You Maximizing Your Teleseminar Profits?

Are you teaching teleseminars yet? Teaching teleseminars is one of the best ways to share your expertise, get more clients and create another income stream for your business.

When business owners are just starting out with teaching teleseminars, they are tempted to offer many teleseminars without cost. One of my clients said that the reason she didn’t charge for her teleseminars was to practice and see if the target market was receptive to her teleseminar topics.

While I recommend offering some teleseminars without cost, I strongly recommend that you do not offer all of your teleseminars without a fee. When you teach teleseminars, it is extremely important to understand how to differentiate your no-fee teleseminars from the teleseminars you do charge for.

When you do that, you maximize your profits when you charge for your teleseminars and you will get very good attendance at the teleseminars you do not charge for.

How Can Coaches Profit By Marketing On The Internet?

According to a recent article, Internet ad revenue up 35% to $17 billion, Internet ad revenue is up to 17 billion.

Looks like there is A LOT of business being done online, doesn’t it? Many of my clients have been asking me recently how they can profit from marketing their business online and how they can promote their products and services to get buyers.

Internet is a huge field and a great place to get coaching clients. In fact, over 98% of my coaching clients find me online.

In order to use the Internet to get clients, I usually recommend to my clients to create a system to get targeted traffic to their web site, and convert this traffic into newsletter subscribers. Here is how you can do that:

Clearly Define Your Target Market. Who do you want to coach? Who is your ideal coaching client? Before doing anything else, you need to know exactly who your coaching clients are, what they do for a living, etc.

Without knowing this it will be very hard for you to market your coaching business online.

Create An Effective Web Site For Your Coaching Business. Before you even start marketing, make sure that your web site is user-friendly and that it attracts your target customers.

Start A Newsletter For Your Business. Not everyone who comes to your web site is going to hire you immediately. And once the customers leave your web site, they will forget about it.

The only way to have them remember who you are is by keeping in touch with them on a regular basis. You can do that by having a newsletter, and asking your web site visitors to subscribe to it.

Use Online Marketing Techniques To Drive Your Potential Coaching Clients To Your Web Site. Now that you know who your target market is, it’s time to start driving
traffic to your web site and get customers.

Use article marketing, online networking, business blogging, search engine optimization and other online marketing techniques to drive your perfect clients to your web site.

If you are just starting out with using the Internet to get clients, I recommend starting with online networking and article marketing. Both are easy techniques to apply and they can bring you a ton of web site visitors, when used correctly.

Your Own Radio Show?

Many business owners I know want to set up their own Internet radio show to get the word out about their business and their expertise.

It is very inexpensive to set up your own radio show – all you need is some technical know-how and you are all set to market your business online using audio!

In order to set up your radio show you may want to set up a podcast. It a very cost-effective solution, and more and more people are listening to podcasts now.

There are just a few things you can do to set up your podcast:

– Get a web host that will let you store large files. If you have a web host already, check in with them to see how much file storage you can get.

– Record your radio show – you can do that on your computer using any kind of software.

– Get WordPress software, it is available free at WordPress.org

– Set up your WordPress software on your web host

– Upload your radio show recording to your web host

– Use WordPress to announce a new recording

– Market, market, market. Just like with everything else, it is not enough to set up your radio show. You need to constantly market it in order to get more people listening to your show.
