List Building Secret No One Is Telling You

I am sure you have heard that it is great to have a list of 1,000 people, or, even better, a list of 2,000 people who want to hear from you.

What is very important to understand is that the list has to be targeted. A targeted list means that people on your list have to be in your target market. If you have a list of random people who are not in your target market, it is going to be hard to promote your services to them, even if you have a list of 2,000.

On the other hand, if you have a smaller list, but people on the list are very targeted and want to hear from you, you will get much better results.

Now for the secret no one is telling you: It is actually much easier to build a very targeted list than to build a list of random people who don’t want to hear from you.

Why? Because if you are building a list of random people, you are trying to appeal to everyone, and you are very unfocused. That is exactly the result that you will get – a completely unfocused, random list of everyone.

When you narrow your message and start looking for your ideal clients to join your list, it becomes much easier to attract people to it. When you know exactly who your ideal clients are, you can reach them in groups, you can reach them on social networking web sites, you can reach them with articles and you can reach them with your blog.

Once you narrow down your focus, you will have a much easier time building your list and your list will be much more responsive to your offers. What could be better than that?

When you reach out to targeted groups with a targeted message, you are going to build your list much faster, and you will not have to work as hard. You will start seeing much better response from your list, because people on your list are actually interested in what you have to offer.

During my no charge call, Four Keys For Building Your List, you will learn my secrets for building a highly responsive list of your ideal clients. Register for the call at

Are You Afraid To Ask People To Work With You?

Are you afraid of asking people to work with you? Are you literally overcome with fear every time you are talking with a potential client? Would you rather get your tooth pulled without an anesthetic than ask someone to become a client?

If you are overcome with fear every time you need to ask someone to work with you, I have a solution for you. Don’t ask people you have just met to become clients. Ask them to join your list instead!

Asking someone to get on your list is easy and effective. Many more people will say “yes” to joining your list. Once they join your list, you will be able to build a relationship with them and let them know about your products and services.

Every time you sharing content with your target market, make sure there is a way for them to get on your list. Here is how:

When you are networking on social networking web sites, make sure a link to your newsletter is included in your social networking profile.

When you are posting to a group or to a list, share a link to your newsletter in your signature.

When you are writing articles and submitting them to article directories, include a link to your newsletter in your Resource Box.

When you are blogging, make sure there is a way for your blog readers to subscribe to your newsletter.

I am on a mission to help you rid of the fear to ask for business once and for all! Instead, I want to help you create a thriving business by building your list.

On January 21st I will be sharing my list building secrets during a FREE call, “Four Keys For Building Your List: How To Attract A Massive Number Of Your Potential Clients To Your Business”. Click here to register for the FREE call

You Found Your Calling – Now What?

You found your calling, you love what you do, you love helping people, there is just one problem – you can’t get clients. So what should yo do now?

Many women service professionals have told me that they always thought that once they found out exactly what they are passionate about and they found out who they want to help – everything else should be easy.

If you have found your calling, but the clients are just not coming, then you must build your list! Having a successful business starts with building your list. A list of people who know you, like you, trust you and want to hear from you! When you have a list of your potential clients who want to hear from you, everything changes. Every time you send an e-mail to you list, you are able to get more clients and more sales. It is as simple as that!

If you have tried building your list in the past, but could not get more than 10 people to join your list, here is a simple three-step plan to help you get more people on your list so that you can do what you love:

Define WHO You Want To Join Your List

Inviting everyone to join your list is not going to help. Your calling is to help a specific group of people, and you want to invite these people to join your list.

If you haven’t identified the group of people you want to work with, now is the time to do that. Find the group of people who want, need and can afford your services. It would be even better if you can find online groups, where you can reach your target market. This way you will be able to connect with your target market and invite them to join your list.

Offer Something Irresistible

Now that you found your group of people, the group of people that you want to help, you need to invite them to join your list. The best way to do that is by offering them an irresistible gift. Just inviting people to join your list is not effective. When you invite people to get a gift, the gift that they really want, they are much more likely to get on your newsletter list.

How can you make the gift irresistible? An irresistible gift is something that they REALLY want. It is something that helps them solve a problem they are having.

I have seen service professionals doubling or tripling the number of people who subscribe to their newsletter (without getting any additional traffic!) when they simply started offering an irresistible gift to their new subscribers.

Build Your List

Now give away your irresistible gift! The more people you give away the gift to, the more people will join your list, it is that simple!

There are many places where you should promote your irresistible gift. Start with social networking web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Your blog is another great place to promote your gift. Another great way to promote your free gift is writing articles and submitting them to article directories.

It is all about consistently – when you invite people to get your free gift on a consistent basis, you will get more people on your list. So get started by scheduling some actions to give away your free gift every single day, and you will start seeing more newsletter subscribers in no time!

The Easiest Way To Get Service Clients

A lot of heart-based service professionals ask me to recommend an easy way to add more clients to their business. I am going to share my recommendation with you. The easiest way to add more clients to your business is to have a large list.

When you have a large list, everything changes. When you communicate with your list on a regular basis, share tips and ideas, great things happen. When people on your list need your products and services, they immediately think of you! As you are sharing with them, they see your expertise and when they actually have a need, they know that they need to contact you.

How do you build a large list of people who know that you are an expert and want to hear from you? Here are my top three tips to help you build your list in 2010:

Offer An Irresistible Gift

It all starts with offering an irresistible gift to your new subscribers. When you invite people to register for your newsletter, they may be on the fence about subscribing.

An irresistible gift that helps them solve a problem or an issue that they are having will convince many more of them to join your newsletter list. I have seen service professionals doubling or tripling the number of people who subscribe to their newsletter (without getting any additional traffic!) when they simply started offering an irresistible gift to their new subscribers.

Create A Great Give-away Page For Your Gift

To communicate the value of your irresistible gift, you must create a page that communicates the value to your potential subscribers. Create a page that convinces your potential subscribers that your gift will help them solve their problems, and you will be able to build your list easily and quickly.

Let Everyone Know About The Gift

Once you start offering the gift, it is time to promote it. Get the word out about your gift. This includes promoting it on your blog, on social networking web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, in article marketing directories, and more.

Truth is, the more traffic you drive to your give-away page, the more people will get on your list. It’s that simple.

What To Bring With You Into 2010

It is almost 2010. Last week I shared three things that we should leave in 2009.

Today I want to share three things that we should take into 2010, because they worked great in 2009.

One of the principles that I teach to my clients is “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. If something is working for you, continue using it, so that it continues to help your business.

Here is what you should bring with you into 2010:

Learning New Things. Never stop learning! I have learned many new things in 2009 and am looking forward to learning even more in 2010.

Join me in learning! Decide what you will learn this year and take action! Pick up a book, find a few blogs you like to learn from, subscribe to a few newsletters to learn from, attend teleseminars or workshops.

Your Fabulous Clients. Your clients are the reason you are excited about doing what you do. Who are the people you are excited to work with? Who are the clients you would like more of? Now is a great time to find your target market or redefine an existing one and start the New Year with a target market that is a great fit for you and your business.

Take your current clients and your future clients into the New Year with you and help them achieve all of their goals!

Building Your List. It all starts with building your list. It’s a list of people who know you, like you, trust you and want to hear from you! When you have a list of your potential clients who want to hear from you, everything changes. Every time you send an e-mail to your list, you are able to get more clients and more sales. It is as simple as that!

Take your list with you into the New Year and start working right now on growing it. A bigger list means more business for you in the New Year.

Here is my New Year gift for you. Join me on the FREE call, Four Keys For Building Your List. During this call you will learn how to build a large list of your potential clients so that you can get more clients and make more sales whenever you need to. Interview With Shel Horowitz

I am very excited to share with you this interview with Shel Horowitz. He is the award-winning author of Grassroots Marketing for Authors and Publishers and Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First. Shel Horowitz is awaiting publication of his eighth book, Guerrilla Marketing Goes Green (co-authored with Jay Conrad Levinson).

As a copywriter/marketing and publishing consultant, Shel helps authors, publishers, and entrepreneurs with marketing plans, book jackets, website copy, press releases, etc. He also turns unpublished writers into published authors, step by step.

Shel’s been featured in many major media, including repeat appearances in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, and elsewhere. An expert on affordable, ethical, and effective marketing, he’s been using social media marketing all the way back to 1995, and since 1996, it has brought in the majority of his income. Shel speaks frequently on social media, book publishing, frugal and ethical marketing, and business success through ethics and Green principles. He’s the founder of the international Business Ethics Pledge.

Biana: What inspired you to write your book, Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First?

Shel: Reading the news in the early part of this decade, when it was filled with scandal after scandal–Enron, WorldCom, and all the rest–I had an insight that the frugal marketing methods I’d been advocating for years were also highly ethical, and that success was actually *easier* for ethical businesses than for crooked ones.

Biana: How did the principles of putting people first when you market change the way you market your own business?

Shel: Well, I’ve always put people first ever since I started my business in 1981, but when I started actively talking about it, being public about it, I started to attract a much better class of client. At that time, the bulk of my business was people coming in for a one or two quick jobs, like a press release and a back cover for a book, and then they’d be gone. I still do those kinds of things, but I’ve found that more of my clients want to stay with me a while. They want to hear what I have to say about their overall marketing strategy, and hire me to carry out many more pieces of that strategy. Sometimes, they actually want me to produce their book, start to finish. This has built a nice floor in my business, because I don’t have to be in constant marketing mode when I have steady clients.

Biana: Can you give our readers your top three tips to help them transform the way they do marketing, based on your principles?

Shel:

* Follow the “Magic triangle” of honesty, integrity, and quality
* Build partner relationships with other ethical businesses that already reach your best prospects, and let them open doors for you
* When you have high standards of ethics and a cooperative attitude, you can turn customers, suppliers, industry experts, and even competitors into ambassadors for you

Biana: What’s next for you? What are you going to be working on in 2010?

Shel: It’s going to be a big year for me. First, my eighth book, Guerrilla Marketing Goes Green, will be coming out–it expands on the concepts in Principled Profit to really see the business world through an eco-oriented lens, and unlike the self-published Principled Profit, it will have the support of a major publisher.

Biana: Please tell us more about your book, Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First, and how the readers can purchase it.

Shel: Principled Profit may have been the first book to really look at all of these issues together. Most business ethics books are all about being ethical because it’s the right thing to do and it keeps you out of jail. That’s true, but it’s a only a little piece of the whole story. I chose to slice it differently: the focus is that business ethics is a roadmap for business success. when you look through that lens, amazing things are possible, and Principled Profit really goes through that piece by piece, with examples ranging from solopreneurs to the Fortune 100. the book won an Apex Award for best book in the marketing/PR field, was republished in Mexico and India, was endorsed by more than 80 entrepreneurs form Chicken Soup’s Jack Canfield and MarketingSherpa founder Anne Holland on down–and I think this book has begun to make a difference in the way the business world is starting to think.

Through the end of the year (or until I run out of books), I’ve cut the price substantially from the original $17.50: $11.95 for single copies, and lower prices as you buy more. A whole case is just $4 per book, or $2.50 per copy (that’s 86 percent off the list price) if you buy out the stock. It makes a great holiday gift for sales and customer service people, customers, and entrepreneur friends.

Social Media Marketing: Top Five Ways To Get More Traffic From Social Networking Web Sites

If you want to use social media marketing to get more clients, the first step to take is to use social networking web sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to get more traffic to your web site. Here are the top five ways to get traffic to your web site from social networking web sites:

1. List Your Web Site In Your Profile. When you are using social networking web sites, and are connecting with someone new, the first thing they are going to do is check out your profile. And when they check out your profile, whether on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn, they are going to look for a link to your web site to learn more about you.

Make sure to link to your web site from all of your social networking profiles. This is one of the easiest ways to get more traffic to your web site.

2. Use Twitterfeed To Post Your Blog Posts To Twitter. One of the most effective ways to get more traffic to your web site is by sharing your blog posts on Twitter. When your followers are interested in what you have to say, they will visit your blog and read your blog posts.

Use twitterfeed.com to automatically share your blog posts on Twitter. That way even if you forget to post a link to your blog post on Twitter, this tool will do this for you automatically.

3. Notes On Facebook. Just like you should share your blog posts on Twitter, you should also share them on Facebook. On Facebook you can use application called Notes. To find it, click on “Applications” and then “Notes”.

Once you set it up, your blog posts will be automatically posted to your Facebook account.

4. Status Updates. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn all let you post status updates. Use some of your status updates to invite your connections to visit your web site. Don’t link to your web site using every update and don’t invite people to check out the same page every time.

Vary your updates, vary your links and vary what you invite your connections to check out to get the most traffic.

5. Get Traffic To Articles That You Post To EzineArticles. EzineArticles.com lets your connect your account with your Twitter account. This way, every time your new article is approved, it is automatically posted to your Twitter account.

When you do this, you will get more traffic to your articles, and, since your Resource Box invites people to visit your web site, you will get more traffic to your web site as well.

How To Get More Coaching Clients Online

Here is a question I have received from many coaches – “How do I get more coaching clients online?” I am sure you have wondered about that too! In this article I am sharing with you steps that will help you create a plan to get more clients for your business.

Who Are Your Clients?

This is the very first question that you must ask yourself. After all, if you do not know who your potential clients are, whom you want to attract to your business, how are you going to find them?

Create a profile of your perfect client – what do they do? How old are they? Are they male or female? What do they need help with?

Once you know who your perfect client is, it is going to be much easier to attract them to your business.

What Are You Offering To Your Clients?

If you are not bringing clients to your business, the reason may be that you are not offering what they really need. What your potential clients are looking for are solutions to the problems they are having. If that is not what you are offering them, they will not contact you to work with you.

For example, you are a weight loss coach, and one of the problems for your clients is overeating and gaining weight during the holiday season, you may want to offer a coaching package that deals with gaining weight during the holiday season.

Create An Authentic Message That Describes Your Offerings

Now that you are offering your services as a solution to your potential clients’ problems, you must communicate this to them.

To do that, you need to create an authentic message about your offerings that you are going to share on your web site, in your newsletter, on your blog, etc. When you share an authentic message that speaks to your target market, you are going to attract many clients to your coaching business.

Share Your Message With Your Potential Clients

Once you create the message, you need to start sharing it. Use social networking web sites, article directories, as well as your own blog and newsletter to connect with your potential clients and share your message.

Invite Your Potential Clients To Take The Next Step With You

As your potential clients get to know you through your message, social networking web sites, your blog and your newsletter, they are going to start wondering how they can learn more from you.

Don’t leave them wondering! Make sure that is always simple for your potential clients to take the next step with you by getting on your list.

Does The Way You View Blogging Prevent You From Getting Clients?

Too many women service professionals view their blog as an outlet for sharing their thoughts and their knowledge. And that’s it. And usually out views become our realities, so if the way you view your blog is an outlet for your thoughts and your knowledge, than this is what it is going to be.

But if you also want to attract clients with your blog, you need to start viewing your blog and your blog posts differently.

You need to view your blog as a tool that you use for both sharing your thoughts and your knowledge AND for authentically inviting your potential clients to learn more about your business.

To do that, first, use your blog to share – you share your knowledge, you share information, you share your expertise. You need to share exactly what your target market needs, your knowledge, your information and your expertise. But you are not doing a good job sharing EVERYTHING that your target market needs, if you do not share information about your products and services.

When someone comes to your blog and reads your blog post, there are two possible outcomes:

1) Your blog post has helped them solve the problem they were having, and they are happy about that. This is great, this is one of the reasons you are blogging, you want to help your target market solve their problems!

2) But more often than that your target market wants more. After people in your target market have read your blog post, they want to know how what you are sharing and teaching can apply to them, to their lives, to their businesses, to solving their problems. And in order to learn that, they will start looking for help from you, which means they will start looking for your products and services.

They may be immediately interested in what you have to offer, or they may be interested in working with you at a later date. If they want your help right now, then they are looking to learn about your products and services. If they need help at a later date, they want to get your free gift and sign up for your list.

Now, what if they are looking for how you can help them, but your blog does not list any of this information? In this case it is actually a DISSERVICE that you are doing to your target market by not providing information about your newsletter and your products and services on your blog.

So revolutionize how you are thinking about your blog. Once you start using your blog to both SHARE information and SHARE about your products and services, you are going to create much more awareness about your business. And awareness leads to more engagement from your blog readers and engagement leads to more clients. When your blog readers know you and when they know what you offerings are, they are much more likely to do business with you.

Learn much more about changing the way you view blogging, so that you can use it to get clients during the How To Create An Authentic Blogging System Teleseminar Series
