How To Create Your Information Products Fast

 

Creating your own information products brings has many benefits. When you are the author of an information product, you become better known and visible to your target market, you are able to help more people and you increase your revenues. Sounds great, right?

But even given all these benefits, many coaches avoid creating a new information product because they feel that they will have to spend many hours creating brand new content for the product. Many
coaches don’t want to spend hundreds of hours to create new content, so even though they know that creating a new information product will boost their revenues. Instead, they procrastinate and decide that they will create this product “later”. Naturally, “later” never comes. I have seen coaches who have been in business for three, five, or even seven years without a single information product to their name.

I am here to tell you that it does not have to be that hard. In fact, you probably already have materials for your information product, and they are just sitting there on your computer, waiting for you to package them into a product. Once you find them, it won’t take a lot of time to turn them into finished products! Here is where to look for them:

Review Your Hard Drive

Quite a few of my clients have started and stopped a product a few times. An unfinished manuscript is a great starting point for your product.

Review Your Current And Past Work

When you work with your clients, you answer their questions, give them direction and share ideas, tips and solutions. Is there information that you are sharing that can be turned into a product that can help more people?

Review Your Blog Posts

Usually your blog posts already contain enough information to get started on a new product. If you have been blogging for a while, you might find that your blog already has enough material for almost a complete product.

Review Your Newsletter and Online Articles

You share a lot of information in your articles, so review them to see whether some of the information in them can be used in a product.

Review Your Existing Products

Your potential buyers love information that comes in several different formats, such as text, audio, teleseminars and more. Review your existing products to see whether you can reuse the material in a different product or a different format.

For example, you can turn an e-book into a series of teleseminars, and the series of teleseminars into a home study guide. You can also turn a single e-book into collection of stand-alone special reports.

Time and time again, I have been hearing from coaches who have been creating information products, but are not getting any buyers. They have spent a lot of time creating their group coaching programs, teleseminars, e-books, home study guides and other products, but no one is buying them.

Frustrated, these coaches decide that helping their clients with information products is not possible and go back to selling their one-on-one services exclusively. As a result, they work very long hours and are not able to increase their revenues.

If you are not able to get buyers for your information products, you are probably making one of these three mistakes. Take a look at the list below and see whether you are making one of these mistakes. Then use the solution outlined to correct the mistake and start making money with your information products.

Mistake 1: You Are Not Selling The Products That Your Target Market Wants To Buy

The only way to create a successful information product is by giving your target market exactly what it wants.

How To Fix This: Before creating your information product, do market research and find product topics that your target market is interested in.

Mistake 2: Your Sales Copy Is Not Selling

Even if you have a product that your target market wants, that is not enough. For the product to sell, you must explain to your target customers how your product will benefit them. The best way to do that is by writing an effective sales letter. If your sales letter does not sell your product, you will not get results

How To Fix This: Write effective sales copy. If your sales copy is not effective, hire someone to teach you how to write effective sales copy. Effective sales copy for just one product will add thousands of dollars to your bottom line.

Mistake 3: You Are Not Driving Enough Traffic To Your Sales Copy

Now that you have a product that your target market needs and your sales copy is effective, you must drive traffic to your product page. No traffic equals no sales, so start driving people to your site.

Are You Still Waiting To Start Marketing?

 

I have heard it many times. Many coaches who have been in business for a year or two have told me that even though they are in business, they are not actively marketing it.

When I ask why not, it always seems like they are waiting for something before they can start marketing:

– Waiting to get yet another professional certificate

– Waiting for their web designer to re-design they web site for the tenth time

– Waiting to finish reading a marketing book they purchased

– Waiting to start on the 1st of the month

– Waiting to …

These people have been waiting for over a year to start marketing their businesses. Since they haven’t marketed their business yet, they do not have many clients and they are not able to support themselves with their business revenue.

Waiting for something to happen before you start marketing actually sabotages you and your business. If you are waiting for something to happen before you can start marketing I have a challenge for you — go ahead and get started. No more excuses of not having enough certificates or not having finished your web site re-design. The faster you start marketing your business, the faster you will build a successful business where you have as many clients as you need and where you work at times that are convenient for you.

Here is a plan for you to get started with marketing today:

– Do a comprehensive marketing review of what you have already accomplished. Do you already have a newsletter? Have you done some search engine optimization? Have you already written effective web site copy?

Don’t re-invent the bicycle. Make sure that you put to good use all the marketing materials you have already created. Doing this will save you time going forward.

– Create a marketing plan for your business. Based on what you have discovered during your marketing review, create a plan for going forward with your marketing. If you haven’t done that much in terms of marketing yet, I recommend concentrating on three marketing areas in the beginning: create an effective web site that sells your products and services, get more newsletter subscribers and write and publish articles online.

If you have already done some marketing, your plan may include more advanced techniques.

– Make a commitment to marketing. Marketing is not a one-time action; it is a process that you need to participate in every single day in order to see results. This is why I am asking you to make a commitment to following your marketing plan and promoting your business.

Once you put some time into marketing your business, you will start seeing results.

Are You Doing Busy Work Or Taking Powerful Action?

 

For a while I have been interested in one question. Why do some business owners who get started in business at roughly the same time and do roughly the same things get very different results? Some become very successful and have clients beating down their door, while others are not happy with the way their business is going 3, 4 or even 5 years later.

Lately I have been watching how coaches are using social networking web sites and have noticed the same phenomenon. Some coaches have created a following and attracted crowds of fans and prospects almost immediately, while others haven’t received much of anything, even though all of these coaches are spending similar amounts of time on social networking web sites.

The coaches who have created a following and attracted many fans and prospects are taking powerful action that is a part of their bigger social networking plan. Others are just taking random actions: posting updates that don’t mean a lot, not interacting with others a lot, and not promoting their expertise.

Here is how the successful coaches have achieved their social networking goals in a short period of time and how you can do the same:

Have Goals. Before starting to use social networking to promote their business, do your research. Find out how to use social networking and set social networking goals for your business. This way you are not just using social networking web sites randomly. You are using them to achieve your business goals.

Know Whom You Want To Network With. Know the people you want to meet on social networking web sites, so that you can look for them and network with them specifically instead of connecting with people randomly. Doing this alone can dramatically cut down on time you spend on social networking, while still helping you achieve all of your goals.

Be Consistent Throughout Different Social Networking Web Sites. If you use more than one social networking web site, have a consistent message, brand and image throughout all of them. You will meet many of the same people on different social networking web sites, so you don’t want to confuse them about what you do.

Have A Social Networking Plan. If you want to get clients, create raving fans and be seen as an expert on social networking web sites, you must take consistent, powerful action. The easiest way to do that is to create a plan that outlines the actions you need to take, step-by-step.

As you can see, the difference between doing busy work and taking powerful action is huge. If you continue doing busy work, you will find yourself in the same place day after day, year after year. Start taking powerful action today by creating your social networking plan and you will be able to get
