How To Start Writing An Ebook

Does the idea of writing an e-book seem like a huge task? The secret to creating an e-book is to break the process into smaller steps. To start, you need a plan. When I sit down to write, I usually have a topic, an outline, and an idea of how long the piece is going to be. Having these three pieces of information in advance keeps me focused on writing, and not on planning or making topic and length decisions.

So how do you do the preliminary work and decide on topic, outline and length? Here is how:

1. Choose A Topic. What are your clients already interested in? If many of your clients are interested in a particular topic, it will make a perfect theme for an e-book.

2. Create an Outline. It is very important to create an outline for your product – it guides you through your writing, and it gives you an idea of the expected length of the finished product, and it helps you include all the information into your product. Somewhere between five and ten sections is ideal.

3. Select a Length. Your outline and topic(s) should give you a good idea of a length for your project. Given 2-4 pages per section in your outline, you now have 10-40 pages for your finished product.

You are now ready to write your e-book! To learn the five steps of creating, marketing and selling your e-book, get my “5 Steps to Creating Your First Ebook” special report.

Online Marketing Secret – Article Marketing

Every time I speak about online marketing, I get many questions on how to get their name out there, get more newsletter subscribers and clients. To achieve many of these things I use article marketing. Here is why:
– Your Potential Clients Search For Your Online Before Hiring You. Many people use search engines to find information about professionals, they want to hire. If you search for my name in quotes, “Biana Babinsky”, in Google, you will find thousands of results. Many of the results are due to me writing and publishing articles online. When potential clients search for me online, these results give me credibility.

– Publishing Articles Online Promotes Your Expertise. When your potential clients read your articles, they consider you an expert. It is much easier to sell your products and services to people, who consider you an expert.

– You Can Use Your Articles To Get Better Search Engine Rankings. Better search engine rankings bring more targeted search engine traffic to your web site, and more traffic means more newsletter subscribers and more sales for your business.

Article marketing is one of my secret weapons to sell my products and services. Want to learn how I use it? Join me for the Article Marketing For Profits Teleseminar

How Do People Use Your Ebooks?

Want to sell more ebooks? Make sure they are formatted to suit your target customers! When you know how people will use your ebook, you will be able to format it properly, to make their experience great. Happy customers = recommendations = more sales.
For example, if you write an e-book about building birdhouses, I would expect people to print it out and use it that way. I would not expect them to keep running from the garage, where they are building the birdhouse, to the computer every time they need instructions.

On the other hand, my e-book, Complete Step by Step Online Marketing Course, is about marketing a business online. It lists lots of links and resources, that are clickable. Therefore, my clients get the most out of it when they are reading it on the computer, so that they are able to click over to the links and resources.

How are your ebooks formatted?

Building Awareness Using Your Blog

Many people ask me what I think of blogging as a way to build awareness and brand for a business. I love blogging – it helps me bring in more traffic and awareness for my products. It is easy to set up a blog – I recommend using software available on WordPress.org on your own web server, which is great for branding. You can also set up a blog at blogger.com.
A few ways to use your blog to build awareness for your business:

– Optimize your posts for search engines. By using search engine optimization you can drive more search engine traffic to your blog.

– Link to your web site and your products from the blog. By providing more information about you and your business, you get the reader interested in learning more about you and your business.

– Invite your blog readers to subscribe to your newsletter.

I have written many articles about using a blog for marketing. You can read them at https://www.avocadoconsulting.com/articles/ under Business Blogging.

What Are Your 12 Months Goals?

Many solopreneurs have BIG goals for the next 12 months. For example, here are goals that lots of solopreneurs have for the next 12 months:

Passive Income Goal: Create at least three products (books, ebooks, special reports, audio CDs) and sell them on their web site.

Web Site Traffic Goal: Increase web site traffic at least 10 times, using article marketing and search engine optimization.

Business Blogging Goal: Create a blog and blog on a regular basis. Have the blog attract a lot of traffic, and use it to create brand awareness, leads and sales for the business.

These sound like a great goals, but the problem is that many solopreneurs don’t follow up on them. 12 months come and go, and they are not any closer to implementing these
goals for their business.

After talking to many solopreneurs, I find this happens for a few different reasons:

Solopreneurs and online business owners would love to implement the goals, but they do not know how to do that. They don’t know how to do search engine optimization, get a business blog or create and start selling an e-book.

They search for the information online, become overwhelmed with all the information available, and are not able to extract the information they need.

Solopreneurs need to ask follow-up questions about marketing techniques. Many have told me that after buying an information product on search engine optimization, online marketing or passive income stream, they still need some help implementing the techniques discussed.

Since they can’t ask the author more questions about implementing the techniques in their business, they give up on marketing techniques and their goals.

They are not connected with peer professionals. To stay on track and keep motivated, you need to be connected with peers who are working on similar goals. You can also ask your peers for feedback on your products and for testimonials and bonuses to include with your new products.

My Complete Online Marketing System, addresses all of the above issues and helps business owners achieve their passive income, web site traffic and blogging goals. Here is how it does that:

MySpace Has The Most Traffic

According to MySpace top single U.S. Web site article, MySpace is the single most visited US web site. Here is what the article says:

“According to Internet traffic measurement firm Hitwise, News Corp.’s MySpace.com accounted for 4.46 percent of all U.S. Internet visits for the week ending July 8, pushing it past Yahoo Mail for the first time and outpacing the home pages for Yahoo, Google and Microsoft’s MSN Hotmail.”

Make More Money By Getting Help

Do you want to make more money? You might be able to make more money by concentrating on your core activities and outsourcing the rest of the things that need to be done.

For example, if you are a business coach, your core activities are working with your clients, teaching classes, giving speeches, writing your newsletter and marketing and networking to get your business better known. However, other activities, such as bookkeeping, billing and invoicing, and various administrative tasks are not your core activities. If you outsource them, you will have more time to work with clients, create new products and market your products; these are activities that earn you money.

Outsourcing to make more money was just one of the tips that Kristine McKinley shared yesterday during the “Five Financial Mistakes Solo-Professionals Make” teleseminar, part of the Business Conversations with Biana Babinsky Teleseminar Series.

To learn more about how not to make financial mistakes that result in losing money, you can get a full recording of Kristine’s teleseminar. It is available free to members of MarketingSalad.com, the online community for business owners. You can join now at https://www.MarketingSalad.com and get immediate access to Five Financial Mistakes Solo-Professionals Make Teleseminar Audio Recording, as well as other business audio recordings, business worksheets and online business coaching.

Friendster Patents Social Networking

I recently read in Wendy Piersall’s blog post, Friendster Patents Social Networking that Friendster received a patent that convers online social networks.

According to the original article, Friendster Wins Patent, it is too early to say what will be happening in the online networking because of this patent. It will be interesting to see how others in the online networking space will react to this.

What Are Your Customers Saying About YOU?

I was reading in Gautam Ghosh’s post, More on employer branding, that employees can shape an employer’s brand by posting positive or negative comments about the employer on their blogs.

Gautam recommends that you monitor what people are saying about your company on a regular basis:

That is the one reason why organizations need to be aware of and monitor social software. If your company’s name is CoolCompany search for “I love CoolCompany” and “I hate CoolCompany” on Google as well as blog search. Search for CoolCompany on Technorati, Icerocket and Bloglines. See what are people talking about CoolCompany. Search for it on Flickr. Any photographs that you would rather not see associated with your company?

But what if you are a solopreneur without any employees? Are you safe? Well, even though you don’t have employees to post comments about you, you still have colleagues, vendors, customers and lots of other people who come in contact with you and your company.

Take advice from Gautam, and search for your name and your company name for a regular basis. Use the search engines too – see what they are picking up about your company.
