Web Site Marketing: Web Site Mistakes You Are Making That Prevent You From Getting Clients

Are you looking for tips to improve your web site marketing in the new year? Then you must read this article to learn the mistakes that business owners make with their web sites that prevent them from getting clients and how to correct them!

Mistake #1: Sharing Information From YOUR Perspective, And Not From YOUR CLIENT’S Perspective

I have reviewed hundreds of women service professionals’ web sites, and I have seen this happening on over 90% of the web sites! The service professionals share information from their perspective, instead of the clients’ perspective.

What do I mean by this? Let’s say you go to a life coach’s web site. Their coaching web site contains a lot of information about what life coaching is, and how a coach works with their clients. Instead, the web site should contain information about how the life coach helps clients to reach the goals they are looking to reach. The web site should contain information about benefits that the clients receive when working with the life coach.

This is how to do web site marketing the right way – when you share information about how your products and services benefit your clients, you will get more clients!

Mistake #2: Look Of The Web Site More Important Than Functionality

Here is another web marketing mistake that I see a ton of women small business owners make. They think that the most important thing in their web site is how the web site looks. So they instruct their web site designer to make them a very pretty web site, with nice colors and fun pictures.

The web designer does as instructed. The small business owner loves the web site – it looks great! Unfortunately, it does not bring in clients. So it ends being a very pretty and very expensive brochure that just sits there and does not bring in clients.

Instead of designing a web site that looks great, design a web site that attracts clients. The goal of your web site is not to look nice and have great pictures. The goal of your web site is to attract people in your target market to your web site and turn them into clients! Make sure that you use web site marketing to do that.

Mistake #3: Not Inviting Your Web Site Visitors To Join Your List

Some women small business owners tell me that no one signs up for their newsletter on their web site. When I visit their web site, it is usually pretty hard to find the newsletter subscription box and subscribe.

The most important thing that your web site MUST do is to invite your web site visitors to subscribe to your newsletter. Make sure that it is very clear how to subscribe to your newsletter and that you make it VERY easy to subscribe to your newsletter.

Get Results With Your Facebook Fan Page In 2011

Are you frustrated, because even though you have heard from many people that Facebook Fan Pages will help you attract more clients to your business, you are still not seeing any results from Facebook?

Here are three tips to help you get more results with your Facebook Fan Pages in 2011:

– Share Tips On Your Facebook Page. Your members want to learn from you, so make sure to share tips with them. Share your tips, your articles and your blog posts that share information and tips on the topics of interest to members of your Facebook Page.

– Invite People To Join Your Facebook Fan Page. Grow your Fan Page every day by inviting people to join it. When people join your Fan Page, this information appears in their feed, and it also appears i their friends’ feeds, thus giving your Fan Page more exposure.

– Create a Facebook Fan Page Welcome Tab. A special Welcome Tab helps you convert more of your Fan Page visitors into members. Use your Welcome Tab to invite people to click the “Like” button and become members of your Fan Page.

Do You Need A List If You Have A Facebook Fan Page?

I have been hearing lately that a lot of small business owners are deciding to not have a web site or a list, and instead conduct all of their business, marketing and customer service activities through their Facebook Fan Pages. And I think they are making a huge mistake!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love having a Facebook Fan Page to share tips and information about my business. Having a Fan Page is great, and it can help your business to connect with your potential clients on Facebook. But you should never use your Facebook Fan Page instead of your list. You should use it in addition to your list.

The reason for having a Facebook Fan Page, but also your own list is pretty simple. You have control over your list, but you have absolutely no control over what happens to your Facebook Fan Page. Just yesterday, when when Facebook Fan Page prototypes were released for a few minutes lots of people were upset, because they didn’t like how the new Facebook Pages looked. Make sure that your Facebook Page is not the only place where you market your business and keep in touch with your potential clients. Make sure that you have a list to keep in touch with your potential clients. Make sure that you also have a web site and a blog, to help you attract even more clients to your business.

Don’t put all of the your eggs in one basket. While the Facebook Fan Pages did go back to the old design yesterday, I would not be surprised if the new design rolls out at some point in the future. Make sure to build your list, so that no matter what happens to your Facebook Page, you are still able to market your business and keep in touch with your potential clients.

How To Write A Squeeze Page

A lot of people ask how to write a squeeze page – how to do copywriting for an effective squeeze page. First, what is a squeeze page? A squeeze page is a page with just one goal. Its goal of the squeeze page is to convert your web site visitors into newsletter subscribers.

The reason squeeze pages are very effective is because they don’t have any outgoing links and every element of the squeeze page works to help you reach your goal, to convert your web site visitors into newsletter subscribers.

There are a few different elements to a squeeze page, let’s take a look at this example of a squeeze page:

So if you are wondering how to write a squeeze page, here are the elements to write:

1. Squeeze Page Headline, the main headline of your page, describing the benefits of what you are offering on your squeeze page

2. Squeeze Page Sub-Headline, explaining your benefits in more detail

3. Introduction To Your Offer – Discuss The Problems That Your Giveaway Solves Your squeeze page giveaway helps people in your target market solve a big problem. Discuss the problem that it solves, so that people who come to the squeeze page know what problem your giveaway is going to solve.

Use bullet points, text or both to discuss the problem.

4. Use Another Headline To Showcase MORE Benefits Many people only read the headlines on the squeeze page, and not the text. Make the headline count by using it to share more benefits about your giveaway.

5. Explanation of your Headline Use bullet points and text to explain your headline in more detail.

6. Introduction Of Your Subscription Box

7. Subscription Box, where people can subscribe to receive your giveaway.

And here is an example of a completed squeeze page.

Now you know how to write a squeeze page. Here is the FREE Squeeze Page Tutorial to learn more about designing your squeeze page:

Three Social Networking Mistakes Business Owners Are Making

Have you been using social networking web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter without getting any results? Many women business owners spend a lot of time on social networking web sites, but don’t have anything to show for it. They don’t receive any referrals, any clients, or any newsletter subscribers on social networking web sites.

After a while they become frustrated. They have heard that social networking is a very successful technique for marketing their business. But no matter what they do on social networking web sites, they are just not able to get results.

The reason these women business owners are not getting results on social networking web sites are the social networking mistakes that they are making. The good news is that once you know what those mistakes are, they are easy to correct.

Here are the top three mistakes women business owners make on social networking web sites and how to fix them:

1. Not Connecting With The Right People On Social Networking Web Sites. If you want to get results on social networking web sites such as Facebook and Twitter, then you must use them to connect with people who are in your target market.

You are using social networking web sites because you want to attract more clients and more newsletter subscribers on social networking web sites. To achieve these goals you must start by connecting with people in your target market. If you use Facebook and Twitter and just randomly connect with people there without thinking about it, you will still have fun, but you won’t be able to get clients and newsletter subscribers there.

To correct this mistake, use social networking web sites to connect with people in your target market.

2. Not Inviting Your Social Networking Connections To Subscribe To Your Newsletter. I have seen this happen again and again. Women business owners connect with people in their target market on social networking web sites and share useful content, tips and information. They didn’t do anything else, though, and their connections aren’t able to benefit even more by attending the business owners’ teleseminars or signing up for their services.

Just sharing information is not enough. You also need to ask your connections to join your list, so that you can continue building relationships with them and let them know about your products and services.

3. Not Having A Social Networking System. If you want to be very successful with social networking, then you must have a system for using social networking to connect with people in your target market, invite them to join your list and build a relationship with them. Facebook Marketing: New Facebook Profiles

Have you seen the new Facebook Profiles? Have you switched to a new Facebook profile yet? The new profile has a different layout and features things differently. It posts information about you, your job and education on the very top.

Next, there is a row with a few of your pictures posted, helping you share your interests and pictures with your friends. And then there is your regular Wall. It looks like the width of the Wall became smaller and the ads are now more visible.

Instead of the Tabs, there is now a menu on which you can click to find out more Info (this is where people can find out more about what you do, your education, and your web site address), Photos, Notes, Friends.

Web site address is not visible on the main profile page anymore. If people want to see your web site address, they will have to check out Info. This makes your Facebook Fan Page even more important, because you can still have your web site address on the main page of your Fan Page.

The “Likes” used to be displayed on the main Profile Page, but now are displayed under Info. This means that your Facebook Page will not be as visible on your Facebook Fan Page members’ profiles as it used to be.

What do you think about the new Facebook Profiles? What do you like about them?

Social Media Marketing: Building Your Social Networking Community

Here is a question I receive a lot from service professionals who want to get results with social media marketing. They want to know how to become known to many people in their target market on social media web sites such as Facebook.

You can do that by building a community on Facebook and inviting people in your target market to join you there. Here are three tips for building your social networking community on Facebook:

1. Start A Facebook Fan Page

Before you can grow your community you need to create it. And a great place to create a community on Facebook is creating a Facebook Fan Page.

If you don’t have a page on Facebook yet, start a Facebook Page For Your Business. Doing this will help you get more visibility and exposure for your business on Facebook, and will help you start building your community.

2. Invite People In Your Target Market To Join Your Facebook Page

Your community is not a community without members. So invite others to join your Facebook community.

Now the question becomes, who do you want to invite to join your Facebook community? You want to invite people who are in your target market – people who are interested in what you have to say, those who would be interested in your products and services.

3. Keep Your Community Members Interested And Engaged

The best way to build your community and to keep your members engaged in the community is by sharing information that they are interested in.

Share tips, articles and information that is of interest to people in your community and they will stay interested and engaged. And, when they are engaged, and comment on your Facebook Page, you will get more visibility for your page through their feeds. A win-win for everyone.

How To Combat Social Networking Overwhelm

Are you overwhelmed with everything you have to do on social networking web sites such as Facebook and Twitter? If you are trying to do Twitter marketing and Facebook marketing, but are having trouble with them because you are just overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done, it is time to step back, take stock and see what you REALLY must accomplish on those social networking web sites.

Here is the 3-step plan to help you do that:

1. Schedule Your Social Networking Time.

Here is a social networking tip I share with my clients: don’t spend the time that you don’t have on social networking web sites. Meaning take a look at where you spend your time, and only spend the time that you have on social networking web sites.

The best way to do that is by scheduling your social networking time. Find out how much time you can invest into social networking web sites, and put that on your schedule. When you know exactly how much time you can spend on Facebook and Twitter, you will be able to spend that time on doing social networking without being overwhelmed.

2. Get The Most Out Of Your Social Networking Time.

Now that you have scheduled your social networking time, use it effectively. Don’t do anything else during this time – don’t check your e-mail and don’t write your newsletter. Instead, spend the time on social networking and social networking only.

Update your status, schedule updates for the future, respond on social networking web sites, share useful tips, etc. Spend the time that you schedule for social networking marketing on social networking marketing. That way you will accomplish more on social networking web sites and will avoid overwhelm.

3. Automate Some Of Your Social Networking Actions.

A great way to avoid social networking overwhelm is by automating some of your social networking actions. Automation is great, because it helps you increase your social networking visibility automatically.

You can automate posting of your blog posts to social networking web sites. You can also automate posting of some of your tips to social networking web sites. Automation helps you avoid social networking overwhelm, while still staying visible on social networking web sites.

Facebook Pages Are Now Much Easier to Unlike

I recently read a blog post, Facebook Adds “Unlike Page” Button to Page Stories. The blog post does a great job explaining how Facebook now made it much easier for people to “unlike” pages right there in their news feeds.

If someone is reading their news feed, and they see a story from a page, they now can “unlike” the page right there in the feed, instead of having to go to the actual page. What does that mean to you? Well, if you run a Facebook Page for your business, it will be much easier for your members to “unlike” your page if they don’t want to see your updates anymore. This means that you should make the updates interesting for your members. When they are interested in what you post, when they are involved in your page, they will be much less likely to “unlike” your page.

Here is how to do that:

1. Share Updates Of Interest To Your Members. If you want your members to be engaged, you must share information that they are interested in. Share tips, quotes, information that your members will find useful.

2. Keep Your Members Engaged. When your members are engaged and involved, they will stay members. As members questions, ask for their opinion, etc.

For example, on my Facebook Page, I asked members to share links to their Facebook Pages and many responded.

3. Don’t Post Non-Stop Updates. Don’t post updates every five minutes – your members will get annoyed with too many updates.

4. Invite Your Members to Join Your List. Remember your goal for social networking – you want to invite people on social networking web sites to join your list.

You have no control over the changes that happen on social networking web sites. But you do have control over your own list. So make sure to invite people on social networking web sites to join your list! Join me for Ultimate Social Networking Teleseminar Series to learn how to invite people you meet on social networking web sites to join your list.

Is Twitter Effective For Marketing?

If you have been on Twitter for a while, you have probably been wondering whether Twitter is effective for marketing and how to use Twitter as a marketing tool.

The answer is that Twitter is effective for marketing. Twitter is great at helping you connect with your potential clients and inviting them to learn more about your business. Read this article for tips on how to use Twitter as a marketing tool and get clients from Twitter.

Here are top five tips to help you start getting results from Twitter marketing:

– Tip #1: Define Your Target Market.

If you want to get results from any online marketing technique, including marketing on Twitter, then you must know exactly who your perfect clients are. If you don’t know who your perfect clients are, you will not be able to connect with them on Twitter and get results with Twitter marketing.

– Tip #2: Start Connecting With People In Your Target Market on Twitter.

Once you know who your target market is, start connecting with people in your target market on Twitter. Every action you take on Twitter needs to connect you with people in your target market.

– Tip #3: Become An Active Participant On Twitter.

Want to use Twitter as a marketing tool? Twitter marketing will only work for you if you are an active Twitter participant. If you are not actively participating on Twitter, then people in your target market will not know who you are.

– Tip #4: Promote Your Expertise On Twitter.

A big part of your Twitter marketing should be letting know people who you connect with about your expertise. You can do that by sharing tips and articles on Twitter.

– Tip #5: Automate (Some Of) Your Twitter Marketing.

If you want to use Twitter as a marketing tool, then you should automate some of the actions you are taking.

You should not automate relationship building, but it is perfectly fine to automate some tasks, such as sharing of your blog posts. That way you will free up more of your time for building relationships with your Twitter followers, and will still be able to share your blog posts.
